National Coalition for Black Development in Family and Consumer Sciences, Inc.

(NCBDFCS)

The National Coalition for Black Development in Family and Consumer Sciences, Inc., a 501(c)3 private, non-profit, tax-exempt organization, was established in 1984 as an outgrowth of the former Coalition for Black Development in Home Economics, a Washington, D.C. based organization formed in 1980. 

 

Charter members of the Coalition included home economists who were employed in secondary and higher education, business and industry,  professional organizations and government

 

A network of  Family and Consumer Science Professionals organized to share resources to affect positive changes for the benefit of Black Family and Consumer Scientists, families and communities.

 

Works in partnership with the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) to promote the mission and goals of the profession.

 

 

Goals include enhancing and strengthening resources and programs of Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by sharing expertise

 

Implementing an annual program of work that provides opportunities for members to increase their knowledge of Family and Consumer Sciences.
